The Center for Educational Innovations is a registered nonprofit organization in Republic of Moldova. Its mission is to support national educational reform and promote a learning system which prepares free and democratic citizens for the future. To achieve this mission, the Center for Educational Innovations works with teachers, students , parents, school administrators and community, so as to improve the educational system in the schools in Moldova: concepts, methodologies, content and extra curricular activities. A midpoint issue for our organization is to promote experiential education as a form of better understanding and free thinking. Members of the Center strongly believe that principles and values of tolerance, understanding, objectivity and critical thinking accompanied by knowledge, empowerment and participation should become an integrated part of the school curricula and an integral part of each student’s life. The members of CIE are local policy makers, local and international experts in education, teachers, and members of teacher/parent associations. These people share common visions and are constantly involved in elaborating research related to educational issues, as well as didactical materials for schools, ensuring access to information for schools and communities, research, analysis, and curricular assessment, etc
Previous projects through the members of Center worked to achieve the goals include: - Connecting young people, teacher, parents and decision-making policy makers to raise awareness about the need to study Civic Education in schools through “Young people want to practice democracy” national project, US Embassy in Moldova (2008) - Connecting pupils (15 – 18 years) from Moldova with peers from Romania, Bulgaria an Serbia regarding multicultural and intercultural past and history learning through “We and Our Neighbours ” project (2003 - 2007) - Elaboration of newsletter “T-shirt” for young people by young people, financed by European Cultural Foundation (2006-2007) - Experimental Integrated History course among 100 schools in Moldova, based on skills and critical thinking development, promotion and analytical skills for pupils and bottom-up approach for teachers (2003 - 2006) - Participation of Moldova K-12 teachers in professional trainings and conferences in Europe, particularly at “Georg Eckert” Institute, Braunschweig, Germany. (2004 - 2006) - Yearly summer schools for teacher of history, civic education, geography and human rights in K-12 with international experts form the Council of Europe (2003 – 2006)
